We are excited to be part of the collaborative effort between Camp I Am Me by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, the Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Springfield Illinois Fire Department , to provide specialized smoke alarm devices to 8 of our families.
These bed shaker alarms alert individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to fire emergencies by vibrating when a smoke alarm is activated—addressing a critical life-safety need. Historically, the cost of this equipment made access difficult. Thanks to this collaboration, that barrier is being removed, and essential safety technology is reaching students and families who need it most.
These alarms offer families greater peace of mind during fire emergencies, and we are honored to connect our families with trusted community and state resources that support safety, accessibility and an improved quality of life.
