Brains were buzzing and strategy was on full display as Franklin Middle School’s chess team made a powerful showing at the State Tournament! Out of a field of 310 competitors, 8th grader Veer, played an incredible tournament going undefeated through all eight games.
Veer battled his way to Board 1, the Championship Board, where the tournament’s top players face off. In an intense final round, the championship match ended in a draw, securing Veer an impressive 2nd place finish at State and making him one of only two players in the entire tournament to remain undefeated. Talk about a grandmaster performance!
And the Falcon victories didn’t stop there!
6th graders Shreya & Emmett also made their moves count, each earning Bronze medals in the 6th-grade division.
Way to go, Falcons your moves were nothing short of checkmate!
