Springfield Families,
We want to take a moment to remind everyone about student parking procedures to help ensure a smooth, safe experience for all.
Students who have purchased an SHS parking placard are permitted to park in one of three designated student parking lots: (See Map)
The two lots on Lewis Street
The lot next to New Street Field
These designated areas are clearly marked in red and include ample signage identifying them as Springfield High School student parking.
Please note that there are several private and state-owned lots near the school. These are not authorized SHS parking areas, and students who park there risk being towed. We’ve recently had several vehicles towed due to cars being parked outside of designated zones — and in some cases, those vehicles did not have an SHS parking placard at all. The people who are towing are not informing or warning the school. They are just towing.
Students who do not have a parking placard may not park in SHS student lots and should use nearby neighborhood street parking or arrange alternate transportation. We do have an overflow lot off of New Street that is owned by the District where students with placards can park. We understand that parking by the New Street Field lot may mean a short walk to school, and we encourage students to plan ahead, manage their time effectively, and arrive early to secure a spot and get to class on time.
This year, SHS offered the most student parking spaces ever available, and we are committed to supporting our students’ needs. However, we need everyone’s cooperation to ensure that parking can be found. Thank you for your understanding and partnership in keeping our campus safe and organized.
