Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the Peace Room is open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.
Tutoring is available for all students. Normal tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays continues from 3:30-4:30 in room 160. In addition, tutoring is also now available on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in room 114. No tutoring or after school on test day, this Thursday the 9th.
During the month of April, Be A Senator is focusing on Friendship. Quality friendships can increase your overall happiness and sense of belonging while providing support during tough times. To improve your social connections, it’s important to look friendly and approachable to others. Do this by smiling when you greet people and showing you are interested in what others have to say. Attention Senior athletes who have committed, or plan to commit to play a sport at the collegiate level. Wednesday May 20th will be Signing Day at SHS. At 3:30 pm we will recognize our athletes who will continue to play in college. If you are one of these senior athletes, please stop by the main office and pick up an informational form to complete and return. The forms must be returned to the main office by 3:30 pm on Friday 5/8/26. See Mr. Barnes with any questions.
SENIORS - April 9th is the test day where you are not here in the building. On April 9th, LLCC is hosting tours for prospective students - you can attend the 10am tour or the 1pm tour. If you have questions or need support after the tour, LLCC reps will help you! Check out these links to RSVP:

The digital ACT and PreACT will be administered at SHS on Thursday, April 9th. All 9th, 10th and 11th graders will test. Freshmen and sophomores take the PreACT and juniors are required to take the ACT. Seniors who did not take the ACT last year are required to test on April 9th as well. Completion of the school day ACT is required for graduation.
All 9th, 10th and 11th graders can turn in a signed, parent permission form to be dismissed directly after the test. Any student can stay for lunch or for the duration of the day and be dismissed at 3:17 p.m. Buses will run on the 3:17 p.m. dismissal time.
Seniors who have already taken the ACT may participate in the Senior Service Day on April 9th if the signed permission form is returned to the Guidance Office before April 3rd at 3:30 p.m. Additionally, these seniors, who are not required to test will be dismissed at 1:50 p.m. on April 8th (see form for details).
The Springfield Public Schools’ Board of Education invites interested incoming high school seniors (current juniors) to apply to become the 2026-2027 Student Representative to the Board of Education. One incoming senior will be chosen to serve as the Student Representative during the upcoming school year. Springfield Clinic is hosting an open house for high school students who are interested in learning about careers in the health care field. Students are invited to the Springfield Clinic 1st Building at 800 North 1st Street on Wednesday, April 29th from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. You can tour the building, visit with different departments, and engage in hand-on activities. Volleyball workouts after school on Tuesday & Thursday this week
The baseball team picked up a nice road win last Thursday to start the Easter break with a 7 to nothing shutout against Belleville East. Caiden Beitsch and Jacob Scheffler combined on the mound to allow only 3 hits and no runs while striking out 7. The offense was led by 3 RBI’s from Wade Snyder and 2 hits from Karter Marks. Next up is a 4:30 contest today at Robin Roberts Stadium against CS8 foe Lincoln.
The softball team picked up their 6th win on Saturday in tough conditions at the Scheels sports park. Eve McCorkle went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI’s. Erin Stoops, Milan Robinson and Vanessa Kelley all contributed with multiple hits in the win.
The Boys Track and Field team hosted the SHS Open and despite the conditions, turned in some great performances. In a field with unlimited entries, the boys turned in several top 5 finishes. Jamel Battie finished 2nd in the 200, Jake Tolsdorf finished 3rd in the 800, Alex Ratz finished 3rd in the 1600, Collin Nolte finished 4th in the 1600, Felix Vanmetre finished 3rd in the 3200, Kam Parson finished 4th in the 110 hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles, James Houlihan finished 5th in the 300 hurdles, the 4x100 relay team of Deanthony Brown, Declan Brown, Jeremiah Brown and Jamel Battie finished 3rd, the sprint medley relay team of Declan Brown, Jamel Battie, Jeremiah Brown and Jacob Greco finished 4th, the distance medley relay team of Collin Nolte, Kai Rinaberger, Brandon Moody, and Alexander Ratz finished 2nd, Mayango Jallah finished 4th in the discus, Trey Sutton finished 5th in the discus, Deanthony Brown finished 5th in the high jump, The Senators had 2 first place finishes with DJ Peeler winning the 3200, and Trey Sutton winning the Shot Put. The boys next compete on Saturday at the Belleville West invite
